AFRICA
There is no proof for a past presence of tigers in Africa.
Thus, occidental eurasian tigers were present in the near orient during the wet holocene optimum, and some of them have perhaps taken place in nilotic regions, following the enormous reed – beds that were prevalent at this epoch.
The « mngwa », a mysterious animal of oriental Africa besides Indian Ocean, had perhaps these tigers as ancestors.
For the future, temperate austral regions of this continent could be particularly hospitable for tigers, as it is shown through the experiment directed by Li Quan in South Africa with Southern China tigers.
